Thai model 'attacked by Australian ex-boyfriend while he broke into her house'

A Thai model claims she was attacked by her Australian ex-boyfriend when he broke into her home in Thailand.

Emma Phimwong, 36, was heard on CCTV screaming as Andrew John Murray, 37, reportedly forced his way into her house and assaulted her on the resort island of Phuket.

Footage of the alleged break-in last month shows Emma shouting and crying in her room before the suspect emerged holding a white bag at around 4 am local time on June 16.

He was seen walking away as the weeping woman shuffled behind him before saying: 'Give me the phone and just leave me. Leave my phone alone.'

Photos following the incident showed Emma wearing a neck brace with bruises on her face while being treated at a hospital.

The mother-of-one said she had filed a complaint with police at the Chalong district station but decided to go public with the case on July 21, claiming authorities have made little progress.

She said her ex, who owns the Superfit Phuket gym on the island, had assaulted her on multiple occasions during their relationship.

Local media reported that Emma had allegedly been assaulted by the Aussie before during rows over his alleged infidelity. She claimed she never filed a report because she 'didn't want to prolong the conflict and just wanted it to end'.

Their latest confrontation allegedly began during an argument about him picking her up from outside her home on June 15.

Recounting the incident, Emma said: 'That night, he came to pick me up and drop me home. I didn't let him enter the house.

'When we were in the car, we argued. He insulted me, spoke to belittle me, made faces, stuck out his tongue, rolled his eyes and laughed in a scary way.

'I took out my phone and recorded him, but when I pressed record, he became angry and took my phone because he was afraid I would post it or show people what kind of person he was.

'He has a very good public image. He built a very good image for himself, but his treatment of me has been different to that.'

Emma said the well-built man then 'locked her legs and arms' and covered her face until she agreed to delete the video.

She added: 'This time, I want to push through with the charges. I can no longer endure the physical and mental pain. He was never prosecuted, and he is living his life normally and happily. Only I am left suffering.'

Police said the ex-boyfriend has been ordered to appear at the station for questioning.

Police Lieutenant Witsarut Mahachot said: 'After gathering evidence in accordance with legal procedures, we have issued a summons for the foreign ex-boyfriend to appear before the inquiry officer to give a statement regarding the incident following the victim's official report.

‘We will proceed with the case in accordance with the evidence and legal procedures.'

The woman is reportedly demanding 500,000 baht in compensation.

Police said the negotiation and mediation were ongoing.
