Security guard slashed by knife-wielding man outside train station after 'telling him to move'

A security guard was slashed by a knife-wielding man outside a train station in Thailand after reportedly telling him to move.

Saknarin Somton, 39, was patrolling the Sukhumvit MRT station in Bangkok when Sornthep Phosrisuk, 31, sat beside the stairway at Exit 1, on August 24.

The homeless man allegedly planted himself along a busy walkway to beg for alms before Saknarin told him to leave the area.

The pair reportedly argued before Sornthep pulled out a knife and slashed at the guard's thigh, leaving him bleeding.

Saknarin and several bystanders chased after Sornthep as he fled. They eventually subdued him outside the station.

Footage shows Saknarin still bleeding from his wound as he pinned the suspect to the ground.

Lumphini Police Station officers later arrived to detain Sornthep as medics took the guard to the Police General Hospital for treatment.

The incident comes just days after American tourist Alexander Troy Lopez, 29, allegedly attacked Bangkok traffic police officer Prasarn Somkhanay, 58, with a box cutter on August 22.

Alexander was reportedly high on drugs when he stole beer from a 7-Eleven before slashing Prasarn in the neck as the officer tried to arrest him.

The California tourist was later arrested and faces attempted murder and robbery charges.
