Four Thai ladyboys arrested over violent robbery of Australian tourist
Four ladyboys were arrested this week over an alleged violent robbery of an Australian tourist in Thailand seven months ago,
The mob of transgender women set upon Rajinish Jasuja, 53, as they allegedly tried to steal his belongings in 'Sin City' Pattaya.
Footage from December shows the rowdy crossdressers chasing down the Aussie holidaymaker as he tried to flee through the street.
They clawed at his face and repeatedly smacked his head with high heels, while one of the ladyboys attempted to put him in a headlock.
One woman was seen slipping her hand into his pocket.
Officers later arrived to control the situation, but the suspects had already fled. Paramedics treated the injured tourist, who suffered facial wounds in the alleged attack.
Police reviewed CCTV footage and interviewed witnesses before identifying the four male suspects, Peeraphong, 19, Pimpisa, 20, Chanachai, 20, and Pongsakorn, 18, all from Thailand.
The Pattaya Provincial Court issued arrest warrants for the group on June 29, charging them with carrying out a night-time robbery and causing physical and psychological injuries.
Peeraphong and Pimpisa were arrested in Pattaya, while Chanachai was caught outside a restaurant in Maha Sarakham some 550 kilometres (341 miles) away. Pongsakorn was detained at a house in Ratchaburi, around 260 kilometres (161 miles) from the coastal city.
All four allegedly admitted they were the individuals in the CCTV footage and named in the warrants. However, they denied the charges.
They were taken into custody and handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.
