Driver 'used AI to pose as police officer and seduce women'
A Thai driver was arrested for allegedly using AI to pose as a police officer to seduce women.
Yeunyong, 29, tried to impress his dates by posting doctored pictures of himself as a cop on social media.
He claimed to be a police lance corporal, using photo-editing software and AI to create fake images showing him carrying out duties with the Tourist Police Bureau in Thailand.
The photos showed him posing with his police badge, and detaining suspects alongside arrest teams.
Police launched a probe after a woman became suspicious and alerted a government agency to his alleged impersonation.
They found that he worked as a van driver for a government office in Bangkok, and was wanted on a warrant issued by the Maha Sarakham Provincial Court for fraud, drug use and possession, and transporting illegal workers.
Officials said he had been released on bail before fleeing.
Police on Wednesday stormed the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex in Bangkok, where they found Yeunyong sleeping in his van.
A search of the vehicle also found drug paraphernalia.
Footage shows officers marching the fake cop, seen wearing a black collared shirt, out of the building with his hands bound.
During questioning, the driver allegedly confessed that he had posed as a police officer to impress women he had met on social media.
Police Colonel Maen Rodthong of the Tourist Police said Yuenyong was detained and faces charges of 'importing false data into a computer system'.
He said: ‘The suspect admitted to all charges before we handed him over to the Maha Sarakham Provincial Court for legal proceedings.
‘We are preparing to expand the investigation to pursue further charges.'
Under Section 145 of the Thai Criminal Code, falsely claiming to be an official and performing official duties without legal authority is punishable with up to a year in prison, a fine of up to 2,000 baht, or both.
