A couple sparked outrage when they were caught on camera having sex in a public park in Thailand.

The pair sat on a marble bench before romping in a secluded picnic area of the Chaloem Phrakiat Public Park in Pattaya on July 14.

Footage shows the woman in a red top straddling her partner and bouncing on his lap as the man thrusts below her.

Locals were outraged as footage of the public romp emerged online. They said the park was a popular exercise and recreation area in the city, frequented by tourists and residents.

Security officer Winai said he had earlier seen the man in the video sitting on the bench alone at around 3:30 am local time.

He added: 'At the time, I didn't see any woman, so nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

'It wasn't until later that someone reported seeing a man and a woman having sex there. A colleague showed me the video and I immediately recognised the location as the same area I had just patrolled.

'I was shocked when I saw it. That kind of behaviour is inappropriate and damages the image of Pattaya as a tourist destination.'

Police Colonel Anek Srathongyu, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, said police have stepped up patrols at the park following the incident.

He said: ‘At present, no formal police complaint has been filed.

‘Furthermore, the identities of the individuals shown in the video have not yet been established.

‘If the investigation confirms that an act of public indecency took place, those involved could face legal action.'

The police boss added that authorities will install additional CCTV cameras, increase lighting, and adjust the landscape to make the area more open and visible.

He said: 'Acts of public indecency are criminal offences and those responsible may face prosecution.

‘We would like to remind both tourists and members of the public to use public spaces appropriately and with respect for the rights of others.

‘No one should engage in illegal acts or cause a public nuisance.

‘If any conduct is found to constitute an offence, we will strictly enforce the law.'

Pattaya has become the country's flagship tourist destination, fuelled by the allure of bars, massage parlours, and cheap sex. It has been dubbed a 'p*rno Disneyland' by some Brits, who can find relationships and experiences not easily available in their homeland.

However, the region is now often seen as tarnishing the wider image of Thailand as a family-friendly holiday destination with stunning beaches, food and a rich history.

Public sex is punishable by a fine of up to 5,000 baht under Thai law.

However, the threat has done little to deter holidaymakers from engaging in outdoor nudity.

In December, a Russian couple were fined for having sex on camping chairs at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya.

They claimed they were drunk before being released with a warning.

On the same month, a Dutch tourist and a Thai woman were arrested after romping on a floating pontoon off the same beach.

The pair were detained after returning to shore to face fines.
