A bus carrying factory workers crashed, injuring 25 passengers in Thailand.
Two coaches were taking the staff to a factory in Ayutthaya when one of them rear-ended the other at a junction in Ang Thong today, September 23.
The workers screamed as the bus lurched and the windscreen cracked during the impact.
Officers at the Ang Thong provincial station received a report at 7 am local time.
Police and paramedics attended the scene, where 25 workers in uniform were on the roadside, nursing minor injuries. They were taken to Ang Thong Hospital for medical checks and treatment.
One bus had its rear dented, while the other's front end was wrecked.
Bus driver Wichian Phimket said he had picked up 40 workers in Samko District and was taking them to work in Ayutthaya when a rear tyre allegedly burst as he reached the scene, causing the brakes to fail.
He then crashed into the back of the another bus, injuring 25 people.
Police Captain Manit Nakpaiboon said authorities were reviewing CCTV and dashcam footage and questioning both drivers to establish what caused the crash.
He said: ‘We have expedited the review of the footage and interviews with both drivers to determine the true cause of the accident in accordance with legal procedures.'
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
